Comet TV is owned by the Sinclair Television Group, a subsidiary of the Sinclair Broadcast Group, and is operated by MGM Television, a division of the movie and TV content house Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). Stargate SG-1
The channel’s other headline TV show is Stargate SG-1, which is based on the cult classic 1994 movie Stargate. It picks up one year after the events of the film, when the US Government discovers that an alien device, the Stargate, is able to access a network across the galaxy. It sends SG-1, an elite Air Force operations team, to explore and defend against alien threats. The other major TV show on the channel is The Outer Limits, a space fantasy series that originally aired in the 1960s and was revived in 1995.
Beowulf
Comet TV is home to a small but entertaining mix of alien and futuristic, horror, and science fiction films. The pick of the bunch may be Christopher Lambert starring in Beowulf, based on the classic poem about a monstrous creature named Grendel attacking a Scandinavian village. Other notable movies include Cypher, a corporate spy thriller starring Lucy Liu and Jeremy Northam, and John Candy in comedy Delirious, which focuses on a soap opera writer who suffers a knock on the head that enables him to control all of the events in his life.
Flash Gordon
The service also has several cult movies like Flash Gordon, which stars Sam Jones as a football star who flies to the planet Mongo to save the Earth from Ming the Merciless, Monster Dog, which features Alice Cooper as a rock star whose father is suspected of being a werewolf, and the original The Little Shop of Horrors, in which a flower shop owner creates a new plant that starts to speak and give orders.
Science Fiction
The channel’s content library is full of niche horror movies spanning from the 1950s through to the 1980s, such as Killer Klowns From Outer Space, Motel Hell, Werewolf In A Girl’s Dormitory, and Witchboard. That is in addition to science fiction flicks like Santa Claus Conquers The Martians, Warning From Space, which is about one-eyed, star-shaped aliens that come to Tokyo to save Earth from colliding with a fiery planet, and Zontar, The Thing From Venus.
Live TV Schedule
Comet TV’s live TV schedule runs from 10 am until 4 am ET every day. Weekday schedules kick off with movies in 2-hour slots up until 6 pm ET, when its TV show programming begins. This typically starts with two hours of Babylon 5, followed by three hours of Stargate SG-1, three hours of The Outer Limits, and concludes with two more episodes of Babylon 5. Weekend programming features back-to-back movies from start to finish.
